GEORGIA KARSTENS
Georgia has been a passionate yoga teacher working in Melbourne for over 20 years.
She completed her Yoga teacher training in 2001 which was an “apprentice” style of
practical training. She has slowly evolved her practice in tune with her daily life. Her
early learning was in the Iyengar style of yoga, which incorporates alignment, strength
and flexibility. Since her initial training, Georgia has broadened her yoga training to
include Yin Yoga, Kids Yoga and Special Needs Yoga.
When teaching yoga, Georgia focuses on the use of breath techniques and pose
alignment combining her underpinning knowledge of the human body and her
understanding that each individual's body is unique and that alignment has many faces.
She happily incorporates her knowledge of ancient yoga principles including the
Chakras (energy wheels), as well as the Traditional Chinese Meridian system (energy
pathways) into her classes combining her knowledge the physical and energetic
bodies.
She is currently studying Neuroenergetic Kinesiology and is a Lomilomi massage
therapist which incorporates long flowing strokes that mimic the waves of the ocean.
